Credit where credit is due 343 keep investing in Forge for Halo Infinite to the point where its hard to see why they would switch to Unreal from here. They have built such a fully featured set of tools that we really cant see them switching to a new engine, if that means dumping all this hard work. Of course they may be able to port the assets and the logic from this Forge in to Unreal’s editor to create a Forge like experience just like the Fornite editor.
Any way we are getting side tracked. Halowaypoint just dropped this article which outlines the updates coming to Forge and there are a lot. But the highlights are certainly these.
Starting with the most iconic and the one most fans will be excited for…..
Jeff Steitzer’s Voice Lines
- Over 1,000 voice lines from Jeff Steitzer, the iconic multiplayer announcer, will be available.
- Players can use these lines to enhance custom modes and experiences, adding authenticity or humor.
Music Implementation
- The Halo Infinite campaign soundtrack will be integrated into Forge.
- Music tracks are divided into themes like Banished, Heroic, and more, with nodes allowing control over which tracks play and when.
Navigation Markers
- New nav marker functionalities will enhance player readability and mode authenticity.
- Players can control visibility and settings of nav markers with various filters and parameters.
Text Strings and Message Templates
- Over 600 new words and phrases for creating in-game messages.
- New templates allow for more complex and clear communication within custom modes.
VIP Mode Nodes
- VIP mode, originally from Halo 3, is being added with new nodes for enhanced functionality.
- Players can set, clear, and identify VIPs within the game.
Additional Features
- Over 500 new name location volumes for more precise map callouts.
- Armor effects from Infection and VIP modes can now be applied.
- New scripting capabilities for Spartan tracking, overshield application, and minigame variants.
