Splitgate 2 has been officially announced by developer 1047 Games. The sequel to the popular free-to-play arena shooter will be built using Unreal Engine 5, promising significant improvements in graphics and performance.

The announcement comes after 1047 Games had previously paused development on the original Splitgate to work on a project in the same universe. Splitgate 2 aims to expand on the core gameplay mechanics that made its predecessor successful, including the innovative portal-based combat system.

Although specific details about new features or release dates have not been provided, the developers have expressed their commitment to creating a more polished and ambitious sequel that builds upon the foundation of the original game.

Personally I am really looking forward to this game. It plays a lot like Halo in that classic arena shooter style with enough modern mechanics to keep just about everyone happy. The first game didnt get enough attention campared with how good the game was. The developers pulled the plug last year to focus on this sequel so hopefully their gutsy decision pays off.

You can wishlist the game here on Steam . The game is also available on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
