Insider-Gaming are reporting that Modern Warfare 3 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass this month.

The 2023 Call of Duty title will mark the first of the older Call of Duty games coming to Xbox Game Pass. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the game generally received positive reviews from the community, but critics found its single-player content too short and lackluster.

They were unable to verify the exact date the game will be added but it is expected to be sooner rather than later.

So why the Codpocalypse? Well, the ABK aquisition was seen by many as Xbox buying Call of Duty. Sure, they have other games, but Crash Bandicoot isnt why Microsoft were interested in Activision. Call of Duty is the real money make over there, and its inclusion in the Game Pass subscription service is anticipated to finally shift the balance of power towards the Xbox eco system. Call of Duty has a massive player base, which generates mountains of revenue, and if Xbox can align itself indelibly with that brand, make Xbox the home of COD, then every new release makes it more likely that COD players will become Xbox players……well that must surely be the plan. Its not clear that COD campaigns by themselves will be system sellers, and with more and more competition in the FPS space results are far from certain. If nothing else Microsoft has bought a so much new IP as part of the ABK deal that they are now one of, if not the largest, games publishers in the world, with the money that comes along with that.
