The June 2024 Nintendo Direct event showcased a variety of upcoming games and updates for the Nintendo Switch, but did not reveal any information about the anticipated Switch successor. In many ways this showcase was everything we expect from a Nintendo event. Lots of family / child friendly games, with an emphasis on gameplay and fun over flashy visiuals, season/battle passes, micros transactions and all the other modern gaming trends that come with Nintendos console cousins at Sony and Microsoft.

The biggest announcements were a new Legend of Zelda game called Echoes of Wisdom where you will play as Princess Zelda. The game is akin to Links Awakening in style and is due for release in Q3 of this year.

Also announced was the eagerly awaited next chapter of the Metroid franchise. Fans can jump back in with Samus at some point in 2025.

There were also games announced from Nintendos classic IPs in new games for Mario, Donkey Kong and Lego titles. Trailers for some of the standout titles are below, along with a full list of everything that was announced.

• Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD: Launching on June 27, 2024.

• Fairy Tail 2: Real-time strategy game, coming this winter.
• Fantasian Neo Dimension: Turn-based RPG, launching this holiday season.
• Nintendo Switch Sports: Basketball update coming this summer.
• Mio: Memories in Orbit: Watercolor world game, releasing in 2025.
• Disney Illusion Island: Mystery update available now.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure: Coming to Switch in early 2025.
• Farmagia: Farming simulator, releasing on November 1, 2024.
• Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake: Coming on November 14, 2024, with remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 in 2025.
• Funko Fusion: Action-adventure game, releasing on September 13, 2024.
• The New Denpa Men: Coming on July 27, 2024.
• Metal Slug Attack Reloaded: Available now.
