Do you love Halo? Then stop playing Halo Infinite RIGHT NOW. Thats right today I’m going to run down ten reasons why you should stop playing Halo Infinite until at least season 2 drops……and maybe even beyond.

No content

The same maps and game types are all we have until season 2 drops in 7 weeks which will be a whole five month’s post launch.

Cheating

Cheating is still a problem. There are still reports of cheating in matches from across the community.

The situation is better, but it’s not fixed entirely. Or is it because it’s hard to tell because of……

Desync

It’s hard to tell unless you catch someone on stream cheating, but Desync can make it seem like players are using aimbots or walk hacks because they see you before you see them. It can also make it appear as though you’ve been shot through a wall. This problem, more than all the others on this list kill the fun of the game.

Wait times are up

Player numbers are down which means wait times are up. Whilst Halo Infinite has been frustrating for a while at least match making was quick. Now I spend more time waiting for matches than ever before, which given the state of the content doesn’t seem worth it.

Events Instead of Content

The events are game modes that you can spin up yourself in custom games. The rewards are fine and without all the other problems on this list I wouldn’t mention them but everything other than a proper content drop ends up feeling like a smack in the face. Perhaps I should spend more time creating custom games….oh wait…

Custome Games not up to much…yet.

Custom games don’t work, and settings don’t save across sessions. I’m filing this feature under “more trouble than it’s worth” right now.

The Shop

The shop is still overpriced, and we shouldn’t support this kind of rampant cash grab. There have been so many videos made about the store that I won’t regurgitate them here, suffice to “this shit has to stop” Microsoft. Stop abusing the good will of a dedicated fan base.

Nobody likes the Ranking System

Ranking system is totally stuffed up and appears to have pissed off everyone from Pro’s, Casuals, and content creators. It’s nice to see that 343 can unite the community behind something.

Pointless Open World

The campaign world is empty and devoid of content. Perhaps this is being too fussy to expect a campaign to still deliver value after the main mission is complete but why else make it open world if this wasn’t the intention? Yes, you can jump back in and blow up some stuff, but your actions have no lasting impact on the world and what exploration there is, feels pointless and empty.

So Many Free Alternatives

There are so many alternatives to try why should we play something this half-baked. For FPS fans there are so many alternatives why should any of us stick around and put up with the problems? Spilt Gate, Destiny 2, Call of Duty Warzone, Apex Legends, Doom, PUBG and Rainbow 6 Siege all offer something new for Halo players and I would argue, whilst some of the games like Split Gate are unpolished the experience isn’t predatory or exploitative. (Give it a try it’s only a 15 GB download)

Now just in case I get accused of only making negative content here is my video all about how much Halo Hopium I’m drinking right now!

This is a game which has clearly been released a year too early. It is content light, with game or experience breaking bugs, a shitty monetisation and rewards system, a progression system everyone seems to hate, is plagued by cheaters and not as good as the competition.

Given time, and a decent Forge mode and free campaign DLC, I believe Halo Infinite could be amazing. But right now, if you’re a Halo fan feel free to give it a rest. Pick up something new, jump back in to the MCC or join me in Halo 5 Warzone for a quick blast. When Season 2 drops let’s, all give it a chance but until then keep your powder dry.
